HISTORY

 

The City of Wayne’s 1992-2002 Comprehensive Plan identified community need for upgrading existing housing and increasing the supply of safe, decent and affordable housing.  The Mayor’s Community Housing Task Force became the springboard for a creation of a non-profit housing development corporation and the source of volunteers for our initial Board of Directors.  WCHDC was incorporated, January 7, 1994 and obtained CHDO status on May 22, 1995.  (Community Housing Development Organization)  CHDO’s are a designation affiliated with the HUD under the State HOME Program.
