The following companies provide
utilities, cable television, and other services to Wayne residents:
Recycling
The Wayne Recycling
Center/Transfer Station is located at 110 South Windom Street and is open
Mondays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m.
to 12:00 p.m. The Transfer Station is
closed on Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and holidays. Materials accepted include cardboard,
newspaper, clean steel and aluminum cans, and plastic containers. No glass is taken. All lids should be removed.
The Transfer Station will also accept used motor oil. Contact the Transfer Station at 402-375-1856
for more information.
The Transfer Station also
accepts large household items. Fees are
set by the City Council.
No hazardous waste can be
accepted at the Wayne Recycling Center/Transfer Station. Once a year, the State of Nebraska sponsors
the recycling of chemical waste at the Northeast Station in Concord (10 miles
north of Wayne).

Get a Nebraska Driver's License
Any Nebraska resident who operates a motor vehicle on the
roads, streets, or highways of Nebraska must have a valid Nebraska Driver's
License.
Any new resident with a valid license from another state
must obtain a Nebraska license within 30 days.
You can obtain a Nebraska Driver's License through the Wayne
County Treasurer's Office located in the Wayne County Courthouse at 510 Pearl
Street. Driving examinations are given
on each Wednesday from 8:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Register Your Vehicle
If your vehicle is already registered in the State of
Nebraska in another county, it is not necessary to obtain new license plates
and registration until your vehicle's regular registration is due. You should contact the Wayne County
Treasurer's office to inform them of your new address so new vehicle
registration information will reach you.
If you have moved in from another state you have 30 days to
register your vehicle at the Wayne County Treasurer's office. All out-of-state vehicles must be inspected
by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office prior to registration.
The State of Nebraska requires proof of insurance when
registering your vehicle.
Proof of financial
responsibility must be carried in the vehicle at all times when the vehicle is
operated in the State of Nebraska.

Register
to Vote
In addition to national and state elections that occur every
four years, you must register to vote at the Wayne County Clerk's office in
order to participate in elections for the City of Wayne and Wayne County. The County Clerk's office is located in the
Wayne County Courthouse at 510 Pearl Street.

Dogs
Dogs must be licensed within 30 days of acquisition or
moving to Wayne. These licenses must be
renewed annually between May 1st and June 1st. Licenses may be obtained at the Wayne Police
Department for $3.00. Licenses
purchases after June 1st will be $20.00. The Police Department is located in the Municipal Building at 306
Pearl Street.
There is a leash law in Wayne. All dogs must be on a leash or "at heel" when off the owner's
property. Dogs running at large may be
picked up and taken to the municipal dog shelter. There is a $25.00 impound fee should a dog be picked up.
Staffordshire terriers
(also known as pit bulls) are not allowed in the Wayne city limits.
