Tournament games to be played at:

Wayne Activity Center

Wayne High School

Wayne Middle School

 

Tournament games will be played at the Wayne Activity Center, Wayne High School, and the Wayne Middle School.

 

The Wayne City Recreation-Leisure Department will be hosting its 20th Annual Wayne Recreation / Wayne Basketball Development Association Tournament for boys and girls in grades 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades.

 

Please note the difference in entry fees below.

No entries accepted until payment is received (we will confirm receipt of your entry). A $30 fee will be retained if the tournament is canceled due to weather.

 

 

Divisions:

Girls & Boys

5th - 8th Grade

Entry Fees:

4th, 5th,& 6th Grade Divisions

 

$70 per team (based on a 10 player team).

$5 for each additional player (i.e. 12 player team = $80). Each team is guaranteed at least 2 games.

7th & 8th Grade Divisions

$80 per team (based on a 10 player team).

$5 for each additional player (i.e. 12 player team = $90). Each team is guaranteed at least 2 games.

Rules:

5th -8th grade games will consist of four, six minute quarters with the clock stopping on all whistles. 4th grade game will consist of four, five minute quarters with the clock stopping on all whistles. Each team is allowed two timeouts per half, each one minute in length. Timeouts do not carry over! Each team is allowed one time out per overtime period. All other NFHS rules apply.

 

Teams my full-court press up to a 15-point lead for grades 6-8, no pressing will be allowed in 4th and 5th grade games.

Deadline:

Entry forms and fees must be received by Friday, February 1st, 2008. Only entries received by mail or fax will be accepted - NO PHONE ENTRIES!

Notification:

You will be notified via email (provided your email address is include with your team registration form) when we receive you registration. Team packets, schedules, and passes will be mailed via US Postal Service approximately 10 days prior to the tournament.

Brackets:

Up to 8 teams will be placed in each bracket. Teams of any level ability are welcome! Although not likely, we do reserve the right to combine grades to fill divisions.

Players:

Players must compete in their own grade classification. Exception: younger players may participate in older division. Players can only play on one team and cannot play down. Violations of this may render a player and/or team(s) ineligible.

Playing Sites:

Wayne Community Activity Center, Wayne High School, Wayne Middle School

Awards:

- Medals will be awarded for first, second, and third place in each division.

- All In One Promotions and Sports Specialties will be at the Wayne Activity Center selling 

  t-shirts and other items both days.

Two paid officials and two clock operators will be provided for all games. Most officials are sanctioned by the NSAA.

TOURNAMENT RULES

            - 5th -8th grade games will consist of four, six minute quarters with the clock stopping.

            - Five minute halftime. Pre-game warm-ups as time allows

            - Teams may full-court press up to a 15-point lead for grades 6, 7, 8.
            - No pressing in 4th and 5th grade games
            - Each team is allowed two (one minute) timeouts per half. NO CARRY OVER.

            - Team must be ready 30 minutes prior to scheduled start.

            - Coaches should have provided lineup sheets filled out for scorekeepers.

           

THIS TOURNAMENT IS FOR THE PLAYERS!  Coaches, parents, and other spectators are asked to support their team and help provide a positive playing experience! Any abusive behaviors on the part of a coach and/or fan toward an official or opponent will not be tolerated and those involved will be escorted from the building immediately and not allowed back. SET A POSTIVITE EXAMPLE FOR YOUR KIDS!
