How do I get
police reports?
Copies of police reports and accident
reports are available for a fee of $3.00 or $.50 per page, whichever is
greater. Anyone wishing to obtain a
copy of a police report or accident report must complete an Information Request
Form. Reports can be obtained in
person, by mail or by fax. It will be
possible to receive reports via email in the future.
Persons who have been arrested and are
pending a trial may not obtain copies of the police reports without filing a
motion for Discovery in the appropriate court.
Employers may request local criminal
history arrest data from the Wayne Police Department by supplying the full name
and date of birth of the person on whom the request is made. A Social Security
number is helpful, but not required. The person on whom the request is made must
sign a release of information form before any criminal history data will be
released. For a more extensive criminal history search you may contact the
Nebraska State Patrol at (402) 471-4545. Back to the top
Did you tow my
vehicle?
There are many circumstances in which
the department may be required to impound vehicles. If the department had cause
to impound your vehicle, a record of the incident would be on file with the
Wayne Police Department Communications Center. Contact them with a vehicle
description including the license plate number at 375-2626 to inquire about the
circumstances and current location of the vehicle.
Before
a towed vehicle is released the owner will need to provide proof of
identification at the police department and pay all applicable impound and
storage fees. You will be required to
pay any outstanding parking violations owed before the vehicle can be released.

Where's the Fire Department going?
The Wayne Police Department
Communications Center fields many inquiries from the public regarding emergency
events currently unfolding. In most instances the Communications Center is
directly involved in dispatch and support efforts assisting that agency. You
are asked not to further burden staff, but rather, tune into local media
coverage of the event or call at a later time. Back

What are the current road conditions?
The Nebraska State Patrol provides
frequently updated weather and road reports during the winter months at 5-1-1. Back to the

Why are the
civil defense sirens going off?
On the first Monday of every month the
sirens are tested at 10:00 a.m. to assure they are in proper working order. If
the siren sounds at any other time, please take cover and tune to local media
sources to verify the purpose of the siren. PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE POLICE. If
it is indeed an actual emergency, Communications Center staff is extremely busy
dispatching emergency rescue services. There are a limited number of incoming
9-1-1 lines and many times the department is flooded with calls asking what's
going on with the sirens. When this happens, true emergency calls are not able
to get through. Back
