PATROL

Officers of the Wayne Police Department are on duty round the clock.  The patrol officers work 12-hour shifts and provide our community with 24 hour a day police service.  A significant part of each individual officers duty is police patrol.

Officers on patrol conduct a variety of tasks.  These include traffic law enforcement, traffic control for funerals, sporting or community events, business checks, animal impounds and accident investigations and handing out “Caught Being Good” tickets.

Patrol officers respond to calls for service, investigate all manner of incidents and offenses and are tasked with completing detailed reports.  All of our officers are certified to operate Doppler radar units, the Intoxilizer 5000 breath testing equipment and all have CPR training.

Wayne Police Officers patrol our streets using three marked cars and, occasionally, one un-marked car.  They also use two TREK mountain bikes specifically adapted for police work and they do foot patrol.
