Welcome to the Wayne Police Department
On behalf of the men and women of the Wayne Police Department who serve our community it is my pleasure to welcome you to your Police Department. We serve a population of over 5,500 and are tasked with fulfilling a wide range of law enforcement functions, both for the community and Wayne State College. These duties include, but are not limited to, the protection of life and property, the preservation of public peace, crime prevention and education, enforcement of state and local law and apprehension of known and suspected criminals.
As the Chief of Police I serve as the chief executive officer of the police department and it is my responsibility to achieve the police department’s overall objectives. To carry out these objectives I rely on a dedicated staff of seven sworn police officers and five full time dispatchers. The men and women of your police department work 24/7 365 days a year. Because of our size many of us wear several hats and serve multiple functions, such as developing this web page, allowing us to better serve you.
