Street Trees

Street trees are the trees that are planted on the terrace.  The terrace is the property between the lot line and the curb of the street not covered by sidewalk.  Property owners are required to remove dead street trees and keep overhanging branches trimmed at least 12 feet above the street and 7 feet above the sidewalk.  Property owners are not allowed to top street trees.  The city reserves the right to trim street trees as needed.  Property owners wishing to plant a tree on the terrace need to obtain a permit from the Public Works Department at 207 Fairground Avenue or call 375-1300.  There is no fee for the permit and it lists certain planting restrictions according to city ordinances.  The City also plants street trees for property owners at a cost of $25 each spring through the Trees For Wayne Program.
