- Meetings/events attended
- Ms. Lofgren attended two Access workshops
through Chamber grant
- Ms. Lofgren attended a Northeast Library
System budget meeting
- Ms. Lofgren and Pam Boehle met with Karen
Warner
- Ms. Lofgren met with the Lewis and Clark
committee
- Staff projects and concerns
- Santa story time had a huge attendance, with
over 60 children plus parents.
Santa gave free books instead of candy canes. The staff will consider different
location next year.
- Staff took turns taking time off. Ms. Sharer and Ms. Lofgren took the
rest of their holiday/personal time prior to the end of the year
- Showed videos of Wayne Public School
concerts on public access
- The Presbyterian Church donated a new
videocassette player for use with the public access channel
- A staff Christmas party was held at the
Lofgrens.
- The staff wrapped and donated 61 books for
Health and Human Services Christmas Party. The books were left over from the Summer Reading Program
giveaways and community service/library promotions.
- The sale table brought in over $60 in December. In January, the library began selling
back issues of periodicals for 10 cents each.
- The income tax table is up, but the library
is waiting for forms.
- First L&C program is Monday, January
26. Selene Phillips and Jerome
Kills Small will be here as Sacagawea and Tecumseh at 7 pm in the Ley
Theater at WSC.
- Ms. Lofgren submitted the ERATE 470 form.
- Ms. Lofgren completed the Wayne Library
Foundation annual report.
- Computer concerns
- The number 1 computer is finally being
returned from the Centurian Guard company after a five-week absence. It should arrive this week.
- The library scanner died. Brian said something fried
inside. He is investigating
replacements. We have LSTA grant
monies left (about $400) that must be used on technology. We can't use it for wireless since the
$400 only covers ½ the cost and it wasn't budgeted for in the city
technology budget. We would have
to find outside funds to cover the rest.
LSTA must be spent by June.
- Heads up – the public schools are
considering purchasing the Destiny program by Follett. Not quite sure what this might mean
for us. Destiny is a multiple
site program with some bells and whistles.
OLD BUSINESS
- United Way funds should be coming soon.
NEW BUSINESS
- Conference room policy clarification. The board discussed whether a
for-profit group could use the room at no charge to provide a non-profit
service. The board voted no.
- There will be a retreat for city department
heads on Thursday, January 8.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary Carstens,
secretary
